I started creating stories at a very young age. My parents called it Rocketship. I would run around the house, stories growing in my mind. I ignored the world around me, punctuating these tales with explosive sounds. Hence the name Rocketship. 

Since 2012, I've been creating more stories, but this time letting them move from the orbit of my mind into a much larger field. I write speculative fiction that is fun, meaningful and hopefully engages the reader's imagination like some of my favorite stories engage me.

My favorite stories of all time include, but are certainly not limited to, STAR WARS (I even like the prequels), Marvel comic books, ENDER'S GAME, THE HOBBIT, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, LORD OF THE RINGS, THE NAME OF THE WIND and many more.

Adam J. Mangum is an author of fantasy and science fiction books for kids and adults. His newest work is an epic young adult fantasy series called THE FRACTURED SCALE which starts with the explosive first book: THE BLOOD TREE.

Adam is also the author of the sci-fi/fantasy/mystery middle grade series, MALSMAN LAKE. His other works include the adventure fantasy series THE EMPIRE OF THE PEAKS, and SYCORAX, a science fiction novella trilogy based on Shakespeare’s THE TEMPEST.

Adam holds degrees from Brigham Young University and Purdue University. He lives and works in Kansas with his wife, five imaginative kids, and a dog.
